Biography
I have worked around higher education for nearly three decades as a writer, urban economic development professional and software marketing executive. I help families to learn how colleges "do business: and to consider academics, costs, housing, student success, career development, networking opportunities, and more. I have also worked with prospective graduate students, my strongest areas of expertise being architecture, business, communications, law, education, public policy and urban planning.
I was previously a co-founder of College Central Network (CCN), one of the first providers of Web-based tools to college and university career development centers to help them to help their students to find internships, co-ops and full-time jobs. As senior vice president I helped to grow the company from start-up to partnerships with over 600 schools over 11 years. Prior to being a partner and co-founder of CCN, I worked for nine years as an urban planning and economic development professional in New Jersey. I currently write on college admissions and profile schools on my Web site, EducatedQuest.com and contribute to other Web sites, mainly Daytripper University. Prior to becoming a college admissions advisor I completed a novel, Defending College Heights, a story of the murder of an army recruiter near West Point.
I have a BA in Political Science/Urban Planning and a MBA from Rutgers University as well as a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I earned my Certificate in College Admission Counseling from UCLA.
